Meet a local Quechua Musician and Listen to Indigenous Music
Jorge was born in the province of Qanchis to the south of Cusco and migrated with his family to the city as a young man. He has worked as a professional musician, teacher and producer of instruments since then. He has travelled to Germany and the United States as an ambassador of traditional Quechua music, in part sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute of World Music in Washington D.C. Jorge is deeply passionate about his Quechua origins and has passed on the values of his upbringing to his sons, who have become splendid musicians themselves, sometimes accompanying him.
Typical Andean lunch at Jorge’s house with a demonstration of traditional instruments and music:

The lunch is followed by a demonstration of Andean instruments performed by the artist himself. Jorge will play wonderful pure Quechua music, rarely heard nowadays unless you venture out to remote village festivals. A real treat! Time: half day
