Meet one of the most distinguished Cusco sculptors at his workshop and home
The Cusqueño artist Carlos Olivera began from a very early age to work with sculptures, creating fantastical creatures: winged beings, mythical animals, stylized and elegant creatures that seem to be playing with gravity fed by an expressive force. This world created by Olivera is impregnated by Andean cosmology and the fantastical world of the Ayahuasqueros, millenary rites and mystical insights, a world that the artist has experienced himself with deep respect and a profound curiosity. The artworks of Carlos Olivera are mostly of monumental size with a highly skillful use of iron, bronze, Stone, Wood and other materials. Carlos has exhibited his work in different parts of the world and has become famous for his valued input to contemporary national and international art.
This is an amazing opportunity to meet Carlos in his beautiful home located on the outskirts of Cusco with fabulous mountain views. He will show you his workshop and his numerous sculptures and paintings that adorn his garden and in the house and tell you about his artistic vision and the technique he uses in his work. You may either opt for a brief visit or stay longer and enjoy a delicious Andean lunch (and a glass of wine if you fancy it), lovingly prepared by his partner Zoila.
